Skils wins the Legal Mandate of the Year award for advising on the largest transaction in Czech banking in the last two decades

Skils has received the prestigious 2023 Legal Mandate of the Year award. The award was given by the renowned magazine Lawyers & Business, which provides information about events in the legal community, the economic situation in this industry, and people in the sector.

Skils received the award for advising Česká spořitelna, the largest Czech bank by number of clients, on the purchase of Czech Sberbank’s loan portfolio. With a purchase price of CZK 41 billion, this is the largest M&A transaction on the Czech banking market since the privatization of large banks at the turn of the millennium. The sale of the loan portfolio was completed as part of the largest and most closely watched Czech insolvency case in recent years.

“We are very pleased to receive the Legal Mandate of the Year award and we thank you for it. We greatly appreciate the fact that we were able to provide legal advice to Česká spořitelna in this exceptional transaction. It was a complex, demanding legal advice and in many aspects addressing yet unresolved legal issues, and precisely for this very reason we were happy to provide this legal advice” agreed Karel Muzikář, managing partner of Skils, and Karel Dřevínek, partner of Skils, who worked together on this transaction.
