Jiří Kindl, as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Competition Commission of the ICC CR, moderated a round table with the Office for the Protection of Competition

Jiří Kindl, partner of Skils, as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Competition Commission of the ICC CR (International Chamber of Commerce Czech Republic), moderated a round table among representatives of the management of the Office for the Protection of Competition (the Office) and members of the Competition Commission, or other members of the ICC CR.

The round table took place on April 13, 2023 at the premises of the Czech Chamber of Commerce in Prague. The meeting was attended by the Office’s management: Petr Mlsna (Chairman of the Office), Kamil Nejezchleb (Vice-Chairman of the Competition Section), Petr Solský (Vice-Chairman of the Legislation and Public Regulation Section), Jana Zmeškalová (Director of the Department of Methodology and Supervision of Market Power), Lenka Svobodová (Director of the Department of Dominance, Mergers and Vertical Agreements), and Igor Pospíšil (Director of the Cartel Department).

The subject of the discussion were the current topics in the area of competition, including, in particular, the Amendment to the Act on the Protection of Competition discussed in the Parliament of the Czech Republic, especially as regards the intentions of the Office in terms of interpretative statements, leniency in vertical agreements or taking into account compliance programs when imposing penalties, as well as issues arising from the sector inquiry carried out by the Office in the area of distribution of pharmaceuticals, the newly effective Amendment to the Act on Significant Market Power, or modernization and reforms of the concentration of undertakings.

The Competition Commission was established by the ICC CR in 2022 with the aim of addressing current issues related to competition in the Czech Republic and the Central European region. Jiří Kindl chairs the five-member Presidium, which is in charge of executive management of the Commission’s activities.
