Skils participates in discussions concerning important issues of competition law
The partner of the law firm Jiří Kindl, who specializes in competition law, has been recently chosen to act as a Non-Governmental Advisor to DG Competition of the European Commission at the International Competition Network (ICN) in the upcoming ICN year 2024-2025. And in the past month, he participated in discussions about important issues in the field of competition law.
As the chairman of the Commission on Competition of the International Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, he addressed to the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) a standpoint on the matters of controlling mergers of competitors in the Czech Republic. The standpoint was sent as a response to the public consultation announced by the ÚOHS, which intends to revise the legislation and the functioning of the control of mergers of competitors, both in Act No. 143/2001 Coll., on the protection of competition, and in Decree No. 294/2016 Coll. and soft-law documents of the ÚOHS. The goal is to properly revise, evaluate and increase the efficiency, the transparency and comprehensibility of the entire control of concentrations process. In the standpoint, there were also presented comments to the upcoming amendment of the competition act which is currently pending in the legislative process.
On 12 and 13 September 2024, he also participated in the renowned Vienna Competition Days international conference, where he participated in a panel discussion on the application of Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union to exclusionary abuse of a dominant position together with other renowned experts from academia or the European Commission.
